Have an opportunity to trade for a sub2k gen 1 that uses sig 226 mags(my primary interest in taking it) and was wondering if I could get some of the good bad and ugly from you guys regarding them?

There is more after market support for the Gen2. That said as a basic "truck gun" and plinker the gun will serve you well. I have the Gen 2 now and it really doesn't shoot any better than the Gen 1. Both are a load of fun. For me the biggest downside to both Gens are the stock sights. I used a 13/64 drill bit to open up the peep sight on mine. After doing so the sight became, for me, more user friendly. I would be looking at a Beretta CX4 Storm or the Ruger PCC as options to consider. If all you are going to do is use the gun at your range the Retricted CX4 used are going for around $600 on the exchange which would be a less expensive and, in my view, a better option than the Gen1 Sub2K

Take Care

The Gen 1s are really hit and miss lots of them don’t function well. I definitely wouldn’t buy one without shooting it first. Actually I wouldn’t buy one. The gen 2 is a much better gun in my opinion.

Appreciate the input guys, decided to not grab it after anyways.

The utility of it folding in half was pretty novel, but I think the ruger or a fx9 might be better

OP, may I suggest that you take a serious look at the Thureon Defense Competition 9mm instead of the FX-9.

I just picked up my second TD Competition today. This one was from the fine folks at FOC who currently have it on sale for the best price in the country.

Their price makes it comperible to the FX-9 however the TD is a solider platform.

The TD carbine is extremely reliable, solid and robust and it is built extremely simple. Actually simplicity is an understatement, anyone with one would agree.

I also have one of the original gen TD's in 40 S&W which isn't nearly as nice as the competition model but the only issue I've had with it is a broken firing pin at ~1500 rounds. The firing pin was a known problem with the first gen but was quickly updated and is no longer an issue.

The TD is, IMHO, an underrated firearm. This mainly stems from the original gens being ugly and overpriced. The new Competition model is a night and day difference in looks, feel and handling.

I have a gen2 in 40 and love it. Never skips a beat and shoots pretty good groups. Lots of aftermarket options for it too.

I had a friend saying over beers the sub2000 rifles are being targeted in an upcoming ban . Can anyone confirm this ? I was hoping to pick one up but a little hesitant now. Seems like bs , So many rumours . Thanks for any actual facts
