Haven't fired a rifle since the old 303's in cadets. More of a handgun guy but would this be a good rifle to get just for occasional fun target shooting? Marstar has it:

Australian International Arms M10 rifle in 7.62x51mm NATO (.308 Win) with Monte Carlo stock w. cheekpiece, 559mm std. profile chrome-lined free-floating barrel

If I was to ask a handgun guy , what should I get...
You would ask me alot of questions about what I wanted to do with it.

How about giving more info about what you want to do with your rifle.
what range, do you reload, how many rnds a year, etc....

Ok, I don't reload, the range can accomodate 200 meters, not more than a couple hundred rounds max a year as it's really more of a diversion from handgun rather than a real interest. Don't care about ballistics, getting "just the right round" etc. Simply a fun thing and don't laugh but I like the way it looks with the yellowy wood stock. Reminds me of the Lee Enfield I shot back in Royal Newfoundland Regiment Army Cadets a billion years ago.
edit: Light bulb moment...maybe I would actually get one of those old Lee Enfields if the are available and reasonaby accurate & priced etc.

I'd go with a good used one in .303 and save yourself alot of money, I recall reading about those Aussie guns on some web site. Seems they are made in Vietnam or some such and ass. in Aussieland or something like that BDQMOT.(but don't quote me on that)

"...they are made in Vietnam..." Nope, but some of the parts, like the stocks, do come from VN. There's a tale of woe about it on .303british.com.
The AIA rifles are expensive. Marstar wants $799 for the full military configuration rifle. No bayonet lug either.
"...get one of those old Lee Enfields..." There are lots of No. 4 rifles around in drastically varying condition. $350 and up at Epp's.
You won't find any surplus Cadet used rifles though. The Socialist F**ks chopped them all except for some that were turned into DP rifles. Army Cadets don't shoot anything but air rifles at the Corps level anymore.

Good advice. I'll look for an old .303. Re air rifles: Guess they're worried some kid might shoot him (or her) self in the foot. Thought the idea behind cadets was to teach some discipline & responsibility.
