I have a generic question,

Can anyone on here tell me what what requirements would be need to get an outdoor range approved for action Pistol, berms, distance, hights, ect...

I just would like to know for my own personal information as I may design and build my own for approval by the CFO

Jason, start with the CFO's range design manual. I am sure that Peter Etamanskie had one when he was on the BOD at Orono.

Hi Jason, I have the range manual and all contact info for the CFO, you are more then welcome to use it for as long as you like. Send me a PM and we can arrange for you to get it.

You're going at it a bit backwards aren't ya...?

Wouldn't it make more sense to get the info./specs from the CFO first then build and have an inspection/apply for approval...?

Thats what I am doing!

My question was generic, if already approved for long gun, what would it take to get approved for action shooting.

short answer is it must be approved for handguns. there is no such thing as an "Action Pistol Approval" through i think bantario's and quebec's CFO does put additional rules on ranges for running action shoots.

Walter yes you are correct. Same here in the east.

But Jason is dealing with the "we make our own rules and all the ranges will bow to us for we are the great Ontario CFO"

For action pistol at or less than 25 metres you will need back and side berms of at least 4m high. Also the side berms must extend 2m at their highest point behind your firing line. We just went through this at our club. More rules may apply
