Hey all, first thread in rimfire hope you guys enjoy.
So i purchased this 22 short revolver for $125 at a local gunshow not really knowing anything about it, just knowing i have a soft spot for small double action revolvers (and german guns) so i figured i'd kick off my wheel gun collection with this guy.
On my reg cert it says manufacturor is EM-GE which after reading a bit was a starter pistol maker (they converted these starter pistol to the real thing in order to compete in the lucrative "saturday night special" market in the US). The revolver is essential a ROHM RG-10 revolver i believe (also started life as a starter pistol). These guns have poor reputation and generally seem to go for $50 in the states. Considering it might be the smallest double action revolver anyone in canada with no 12.6 can own i'm fine with paying a little extra in order to own it, not to mention it having the aftermarket barrel to make it legal already installed. All the internals seem to be in good shape the hammer and cylinder aren't peened or wrecked and it locks up well.
I can't wait to get out and shoot it!
Alot of the discoloration on the bluing is due to the liberal application of clp by myself
Also if anyone knows a source for spare parts for the ROHM rg-10 i'd be greatful if you could let me know as i'd like to get a spare kit together for this guy.
Anyways on to the pics!
Here you can see the loading gate open. (it loads similar to a single action even though it is a double) Also the Greenish tinge you can see in the bluing on the frame is not there when it is not being flashed by my camera. It actually surprised me when i first saw it!
Here is a shot of the funny little unloading rod pulled out about 1/4 inch
Here is a shot of the funny little uloading rod out of it's little underbarrel carrier and in "use" pushing out an imaginary casing. Its a neat system, albeit somewhat slow, you can see when using it there is a small guide hole for the unloading rod to slide through.
Camparison to a proper german firearm (hk p2000 in 9mm) show that while it is longer (due to 4.2 inch barrel) the grip and frame are TINY!
Hammer cocked, trigger pull in dbl is atrocious 15+ lbs, in single action it is like "maybe" 2 lbs!!!
Here is some stampings (unreadable in pic but i will transcribe)
Gerstenberger
U. Eberweln
Gusserstadt
Here it is with my only other .22 A cooey Canuck I received for free from a family friend that i refinshed (just the stock), I call these the "trappers combo"
too bad i'll never get to take the revolver out onto a line or into the bush tho!
And here is my small collection of .22 short rounds for my revolver, i can't wait to try out the cb shorts, 29 gr lead at 710 fps must be quiet as heck!

, and I've found that a lot of the "naysaying" around manufacture seems to have been third-hand....
, the underlying mechanism is (in my experience) usually pretty darn reliable
