Picked this on gunbroker awhile back. Took awhile to get here.

Super late bcd4, February 1945 made odd size laminate stock. Matching, untouched. Less then 20,000 more rifles were produced by Gustloff before the wars end.
Stock is unstained and handling grime very evident. The stock looks kind of beat up, but with odd size laminate, the thicker layers on the outsides are weak and prone to damage.

Love the odd size laminate and a skm! What an epic combo. Great score Andrew.

I needed an SKM. I can say I have all types now. This was never my goal, but it happened.
Flat- no hood
Flat-with hood
Cupped-regular
SKM
Kriegsmodell

If I had more time the opposite SKM could be added. A Czech SKM with take down disc and screwed on bands.

I'm missing an SKM but super hard to find in a MO.

I love this bcd. It has everything a collector could want. Condition, untouched, and very cool features. It's just a spectacular K98k.

As far as we know, the exemption is only for marking in a visible place. It would still have to be marked but could be below the wood line. None of us are willing to do that. Maybe I'm interpreting the law wrong? I hope so.

Prophet River. They're the best.

I always used PR before, but tried irg this time b/c I could do it online while on the road.

What's the difference in service?

Do all the importers need to get the guns shipped to them from an ffl or do some take shipments from individuals?

PR takes shipments from individuals which saves FFL fees sometimes and makes it easier for the seller in the US.

The customer service at PR is top notch. I've dealt with Clay and PR for years and they have always been super good to me.

Irg charges an extra $100 us if it is not from an ffl. No idea why, seems un-needed to me.

It would be a light colored phosphate.

Correct. Light grey phosphate.

I also have only used PR. Never had a complaint, nor problem. And the receiving from individuals is really helpful
But the IRG method works too in cases like yours when you were away, less paperwork, and if the seller doesn't want to export.

Where in the holiest of holies do all these pristine late WW2 Mausers come from?

Blows my mind that there are so many around from a time when many might have been destroyed out of hate borne from the 3rd reich. Yet there have been some fantastic examples here on cgn; I just gots to know!
