I have two scopes that are just barely bigger than 1". I was going to mount them on my Brno 21H rifles one in 7X57 and the other 8X57 but I doubt if I will ever find Brno rings to fit. What size of scope rings should I be looking for?

If you reload, take your caliper and measure the tube. Also screw your different rings together and measure the interior diameter of those. It could be that the scope or rings is out of spec.

you get a machinest to make you bushing so you could fit in your scope into the 30mm rings, sadly 26mm BRNO rings are real hard to find! I think though that Leopold make 26mm rings but unsure if they make there BRNO rings in this size, you should check it out. Also try N.E.C.G SIGHTS AND SCOPE RINGS OUT! cheers Dale in T-Bay

I remember when they made rings with a yellow colored tape or some such inside, and used it as is for 1" and removed the "tape" for 26mm, you could scour shops for those or gunshows. I'm not sure if aggressive "Lapping" of 1 inch rings would work with alot of elbow grease. Sorry, I'm not much help...Ben

Exactly! Lapping will increase the diameter of the 1-inch circular opening to, hopefully, 26mm. The catch is that you would need a 26mm bar to do an even job.

"Aggressive lapping", gotta love the sound of that!

Sorry Ben, my thinking was backwards. Will this work? Like the sound of inserts. IOR has inserts for 30mm rings for 1" scopes, but haven't heard of 26mm inserts, except as mentioned. Williams Arms imports CZ.

I have an older Kahles Helia with a 26mm tube. I did manage to find some 26mm Weaver rings from a local gunsmith, but I also "Aggressively lapped" a set of 1" rings to 26mm. It takes a bit of elbow grease, but it can be done. I found that closing a pair of 1" rings around a broom handle (wood, 1" diameter) wrapped in 100 grit sandpaper did a relatively good and even job. If you want to try that, PM me for more info.

Also, I should mention that I have seen inserts to take 30mm rings down to 26mm on the Brownells web site. If memory serves me correctly, they were around $45 USD, so they could be shipped up here.
