About a month ago, I bought myself an AG-42 for my birthday. It was cheap because it didn't have a magazine ($250), and I was hopeful I could source one out without having to part with any spare organs.

Numrich has new production Hakim magazines, which according to my research will fit into a Ljungman, just lacking the extra locking lug up front. I called their international sales department and was told they can't export centerfire magazines - which seems to be a blanket policy for them. Darn.

So, I'm looking at options and hoping CGN can provide some guidance.

Obviously, I could try calling them again and hope someone different answers and is able to help me out. Maybe I just caught someone who didn't want to do some paperwork.

The other option I've been looking at is using an import service like IRG. For one magazine the shipping and fees alone would be almost $100, never mind the cost of the magazine and US currency conversion. Hypothetically, I could organize a group buy for a reasonable quantity (10ish) to distribute the costs, though that is at a cost of time and effort.

Otherwise, its watch EE and gunshows like a hawk, and hope I don't miss out.

So I ask CGN milsurp collectors, has anyone had any luck ordering milsurp magazines out of the US, and if so, how did you do it?

Check with Prophet River in Lloydminster, their fee for importing parts from the US is $50,but the mag would have to be pinned to 5 rounds, maybe the FFL dealer in Washington state they deal with will do that for you.

There is a reason those sit for a while at 250$ with no magazine. Other than trying to import, best option would be to place a ad in the EE and hope someone has a extra one/takes pity on your situation. Just note it will likely cost you as much or more than what you paid for the rifle.

The other option is to sell it without a magazine, and buy a other rifle with a magazine or just buy a rifle with a magazine.

I have imported magazines from the US before (not from Numrich mind you) and it is an easier process than I thought it would be. Fill out the import form on the DFAIT website. I think it is EXT-1466. Anyway, the 1-800 number on their site is very helpful, at least it was when I called. The dealer in the US will ask for the form when approved.
