I have some support at my unit in getting a marksmanship team started, with the purpose of competing in the CF class service rifle matches. Before I put my proposal in, I need to do a lot of leg work.

I need to know some things before I start getting this thing OK'd.

Where can I find the courses of fire for service rifle matches?

Also, what are the registration deadlines and fees?

Where do we sign up?

Also, besides guns, ammo, ears and eyes, and spotting scopes, what are some must have items?

Thanks!

Andy

HEy its great to have more units come out. its good your asking, as some would say (including myself) that the MOST important thing for a team it to be PREPARED and SELF SUFFUCIENT. as it reflects on the Unit the team is from and .Nothing looks worse than to have a team thats a GONG SHOW (go air force) and it makes the old veterans crabby ( no offense guys)
as for what you need .....Off the top of my head
well for practises it helps to have a firing point kit and a but kit.
for the firing point.....
It helps to have your own range flags and first aid kit for team practices and maybe even a stretcher ( I don't know what kind of transport arrangements you have) but it saves time not having to sign stuff out from range control and maybe you can get a dedicated vehicle for the season (then you would be rocking)
cleaning kits either in each rifle or as a group.
-fraction tags
-white paint marker for marking distances on your scope
-a "tool box" to put this stuff in
-basic tools you'll need for rifle maitenence
- a water cooler
-CLP or what ever we are supposed to call it these days
and a good set of binos (but you might want a scope after 100)

for the but kit.......
a stapler
targets
indicators
(maybe a cooler there too)
wrapping paper (it can com in handy depending what type of target backing your range uses)
staplers
and a barrack box for each.. ya ya i know there might be a problem with that

each shooter should also have
a coin or washer for adjusting windage
an oil bottle inside thier rifle (for stickiness between matches)
sunglasses
sunscreen
a nice thick freezer quality zip lock bag or two (to keep match cards dry)

are you on the DWAN ?

Doh! You blew my cover...

Who goes there?!?

I only remember one BCR from the N. Shore, and he has a different last name now...

I have recieved ALOT of support for this from all you good gunnutz out there. Thankyou SO much.

I only have 2 pers interested with a 3rd maybe so far, but its still up in the air. Its going to come down to money. As always.

At least there is lots of time.

The only complaint I have right now is that we are only good for one discipline. I want to do Service pistol and Tac Rifle too! But I suppose its best to take those on at a later date and just focus on this first.

The only question I have that hasnt really been answered yet is...

BCRA, DCRA, CFSAC, LMNOP, EIEIO, all these acronyms! I want to shoot and maybe some day make it to conaught. Where the hell do I sign up is all I want to know. Do I sign up just at the BCRA or everywhere or what?

I have to pass the sign up forms up my chain of command, but which ones?
