You are going to laugh at my response.
My 22 rifles mostly sit in lockup only coming out to be oiled. There are a few I have not even sighted in yet let alone experimented with.
I cannot recall enough details to recommend the Zephyr II and 1416D-HB. I recall that with federal gold medal ammo at 50yds with the 1416 it was basically one ragged hole. I don't think I have sighted in the Zephyr yet. Think I have a compact Burris variable 3-9 on it. The 1416 has a 6-24 Leupold on it with adjustable objective.
As for hunting, most of my 22 shooting is done punching paper.
Around the farm my go to 22 rifle is the used Marlin model 80 my father traded a semi-auto Mossberg for at the local Cdn Tire back in the early 60s when I was too young to recall. it's topped with some Japan made 4x scope. It serves the purpose of eliminating starlings and varmint critters. It is kept handy in a steel cabinet in the closet in the mud/boot room just inside from the garage. I keep a key for it on my key ring along with others for around the farm. There is also an old single shot 12ga Winchester break action in there along with a Mendoza single shot 22 with no scope for eliminating critters from the live trap. I also have a steel cabinet in the shop where they may end up for lockup. if any of those guns suffer a ding or nick being used, it will not make me cry. The other rifles go to the bench here and not carried or to the club in a hard case.
