Does anyone know who will cut an AR barrel for taper pins? A little background on the topic is that I bought one of the pencil 20" barrels from CanAm for cheap but once it arrived to my sadness it was not dimpled or cut to properly mount a FSB (fast shipping though). I know that there are some FSBs that are made to use set screws but I am hesitant of using them. It was a little kick in the nads when I got home to find all my parts had finally arrived but was still at a roadblock.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Call Tier One armoury
Dale is A1.
He did my 20" barrel from Can Am. They had to cut off the old block first too as it would just not come off.
I had to supply FSB and pins but they jigged it, drilled it and mounted it. Came back rock solid and very well done.
Cost was minimal really. Minus the shipping it was less than $200
Be prepared to wait long though. It took almost 4-5 months just for this simple job. They are very busy.

This is kind of on topic bit does anyone know a place on Canada to get an A2 front sight that's clamp on or uses set screws if you don't want to go through the hassle of making the channel?

Armalite makes one, Wolverine might have it.
Or check Brownells.
I've had better luck with clamp type gasblocks vs the set screw/dimple affairs.
Yankee Hill makes a clamp on folding FSB that I've used before without issue.

Personally, I would use clamp-on or set screw into dimple types. Never had a problem with these.
Retrofitting an already drilled/taper reamed gas block to a new barrel is not something I would want to do. If I did, I would carefully use a round needle file to get the tapered notches well started into the barrel, then finish by reaming. And if the FSB isn't true...

$200 to pin a front sight? That’s crazy town.
I don’t care for the clamp type, but the set screws have always worked out. I typically dimple the barrel where the screw inserts and always use rockset or threadlocker.
