Hello Reloaders

Does anyone know the best way to have custom sizing dies made using measurements from fired cases? I think there are several reloading product companies that offer such a service (RCBS, Wilson) but I'd like to know what company would be the best for handling such an order from Canada. I'd like to avoid a hassle associated with moving brass and dies over the border. The rifle is a .22PPC and my stock RCBS die set does not result in cases that fit the chamber. Rather then alter the rifle, I'd like to fire some factory loads that do chamber and send the cases in to have a proper sizing die made for this gun only.

If you have had dies made for yourself, please let me know how it went.

Thanks for any info that could hook me up with a suitable die-maker.

I have used Huntingtons. Dies can cross the border without problems. If you are concerned about the 3 fired cases they want, why not just drill holes through the heads and sides of the cases to deactivate them?

I've had no problems sending fired cases to RCBS to have custom dies made. I make a point of including a note to RCBS which states what the intent of them is in event customs on either side is over curious. Also state on the label declaration what is in the package, they have been discharged and are not live .

I think I'm going to go the route of sending RCBS my dies and 5 fired cases as per their recommendation on their website. Apparently, they'll fix the die for free if it's not in spec but will fix it for a nominal fee if my rifle is out of spec.

I had RCBS send me missing die parts for free after I lost them (decapping rod). They have great customer service from my experience.

RCBS custom dies are horrendously expensive.
"...cases that fit the chamber..." Did you check the OAL and trim as required? They full length resizing dies? Neck sizing should be fine in a bolt action though. Is the die set up properly? The shell holder should just kiss the bottom of the die with the ram all the way up.
Moving dies across the border is no big deal. Brass(and other components) requires the export permit.
