What are some ways to get deer out of a clearing at the end of shooting light so you can get out of your stand without them knowing? Twice this week i've had the same doe and fawn mulling around where my stand is when the hunt ends.

First time I snort wheezed to simulate an aggressive buck (my stand is directly next to an exit trail that leads into a marsh) in the hopes the doe wouldnt want to be bothered by him. She eventually walked off but took a while and she was alert and focused on that trail.

Second time i played some coyote calls on a predator hunting app i have, howls and yips and stuff like that, again she was alert but she wasnt really in a hurry to leave.

Anyone else know of a better way to clear a field at the end of the evening?

My buddy suggested to bark like a dog but i hear dogs barking all the time in the area and the deer pay no attention to it.

I have a long walk back to my truck and then over an hours drive home so a quicker exit in those situations would be nice lol

I'm not sure it's possible to sneak out in a timely fashion without deer or other animals knowing that something is indeed moving about. Best you can hope for is to spook them gently, without them leaving the area code, and without them knowing you are in fact "human" as opposed to a coyote or skunk or chupacabra.

I had spooked them saturday and didnt see them back in the evening until thursday, granted i had only hunted the monday evening between so they may have been back tuesday/wed so i dont know how spooked they were but they seemed relaxed thursday when i had to clear them out again lol

I’ve come to believe that if I’ve seen something multiple times or have been watching it for awhile it has also seen me multiple times and has been watching me about as long. If it was that alarmed it would have left a long time ago. With deer I’ll move away slowly and try not to engage it or acknowledge it in anyway except for perhaps acting like it the most boring thing around and just move away slowly. With bears I talk to them and move away. Can’t stay there all day or night, so if I can’t think of anything else to say I’ll say that😂

I talked to some a while back. Nothing loud. Something like "how long are you going to hang around" "I need to leave why dont you move along" They didnt panick lol

Just sleep in your stand. Come sunrise you will be ready to rock and you won't have disturbed anything on the way to your stand!

Just casually climb down the stand and go home. It’s not like the deer are going to vacate the area for good or run along and tell all their buddies you have a stand there.

Sometimes people really overthink this deer hunting thing 👍

Here in low density areas the animals behaviour changes when a mature animal comes into the area, long before I know. It’s a great indicator of when to get ready. If a non target animal is acting normal and it’s time for me to go, it’s a great indication that I’m not going to spook any hidden mature animals nearby. I leave slowly, and carefully as normal. If I spook a non target animal, oh well.

I wait as long as I can and then come down. I sometimes talk quietly to myself so as to not spook deer as they are used to seeing us cutting wood/farming etc on the property. I find as long as I don't spook them by coming up on them suddenly they only run off a short distance or simply freeze and stare at me.
