Hey all,

I am getting divorced/ splitting up from my wife. I currently live in BC and will be moving back to Edmonton area. What step do I need to take to get my restricted guns back to Alberta? I have already aquirred a SHATT to get too my parents place, but when I buy a new house, do I need to have a new PAL card issued? My current one was issued by the BC CFO, do I need to transfer to Alberta before I can get a new LTATT for alberta?

is it a mesy break up? if so I would transfer my guns to a close friend or family member first

I currently hate/love her. It is amicable and she is not going after me for anything financial. More like a breakup than divorce, no kids, house was hers when I met her, splitting up like grown ups. (Hurt feelings set aside)

your PAL is a federal licence. It is valid anywhere in Canada. You do not need to get it reissued when moving from a province to another.

Simply call the CFC when you have your new AB address, proceed with address change. Shouldn't be more complicated than that.

Just call the cfc, change your address to your new alberta address, call alberta CF0 for new LTATT/STATT

This is your answer. If your folks have their license I would leave them there until you get a new place. Updating your address is relatively painless but still a pain in the ass.

As for the separation, I feel for you, its never easy and the hurt runs deep. I'm not trying to push your buttons or cause more drama, but I've seen several "amicable" separations turn ugly. Be cautious..
