hello, im gonna get into reloading soon, and ive been deciding on what press to get, it's either Dillion Square Deal B, or 550b.

Im really leaning towards the square deal b cause it comes with dies and everything already, and it does auto indexing, im only looknig to load 1 size, and thats .45 ACP. So does anyone have a SDB at all to tell me what its like?

And where does everyone get there reloading supplies from, for the press i might order right from dillion usa and pick it up in michigan.

Thanks
Curby

Well I don't have a square deal, so I can't comment very much. However, the SDB uses a non-standard size die so if you ever decide to load another caliber, your options are somewhat limited. Believe me, it's easy to say you are only going to reload for 1 caliber.........;)

There is no problem importing a press or dies or any other tools, for that matter. I would suggest you try Canadian suppliers first, even for the press. If you make a fair comparison, I think you will find there are some good deals to be had in Canada.

Here is a good place to start:http://www.reloadersbench.com/. There are others, but apparently we are not supposed to hotlink to non-paying suppliers any more.

"...pick it up in Michigan..." As I recall, you'd need a U.S. export permit. Plus you'd have to pay PST and GST at the border.

Hey Curby, I have the 550B, and really like it. I load for several calibers and changing the toolhead for reloading another caliber is easy. As your interest in shooting grows you may want to be able to reload different calibers. Just a suggestion. It's a nice fast simple press, Xray.

No export permit for presses and dies, only guns, gun parts inc. optics, ammo and components. "Tools" do not require an export permit.

Only two SquareDeals came into members at our Club & then they realized they were stuck with Dillion strange dies for the Square Deal though regular Dillon dies will fit anythng but Squre Deal. So most are going for the 550 or another make. I could be wrong, but not a Square Deal has been purchased by Club members since said two arrived some yrs ago.
Personally I am thinking of buying a regular set of Dillon 45ACP dies for my Posness/Warren reloading press for Dillon does make some of the best & besides they have some unique things on said regular dies.

I've got a 550B. Treats me quite well. Doesn't take me long to load up a whack of ACP.

Now to try loading some 455 Webley in it. Wonder what I need different to get the 455's to go round and round on the press? Is there a specific shellholder for 455 or does 45 LC make do?
