Our General (read: open rifle) season opens here on Monday, as well as Upland and Migratory Game Bird.

My antlered moose draw tag also opens on Monday.

I'm getting itchy to hunt... are you?

Fishing gets better in the fall, and we've had our fist days of morning temps in the low single-digits, with daytime highs only around 15.

“He loved the warm sun of summer and the high mountain meadows, the trails through the timber and the sudden clear blue of the lakes. He loved the hills in the winter when the snow comes. Best of all he loved the fall … the fall with the tawny and grey, the leaves yellow on the cottonwoods, leaves floating on the trout streams and above the hills the high blue windless skies. He loved to shoot, he loved to ride and he loved to fish." ~ Ernest Hemingway

My big vacation earlier this year prompted me to take up photography more seriously as a hobby; I'll be packing my camera along with my other gear this year, so I'll see what I can do about pics.

There are a number of CGN's who are more talented and accomplished photographers than I, and we're on the cusp of hunting season nation wide, so I'm sure some excellent shots are in the offing soon enough!

I followed your recent thread BTW; nice work on the buffalo!

Cheers mate, its a way of saying thank you in return of all the Deer hunting an Big game photos that get posted on here, I for one love them Canadian Big Game critters an without having access to a site like this its pretty hard to see the real thing, or hear the real stories as opposed to some Gun writer writing a travel brochure in an Aussie magazine...

I try put back somethings I take out... an ive always been a Fan of hunting photos, liveys an dead'ns, an of course photos from the field.

So I say Thanks for CGN for contributing photos, least I can do is show you some hunting from down under.

I'm getting itchy for sure...

My second season with a gun and license and will be my first deer season. It's grouse that I can't stop thinking about though.

Hope to get the new Vizsla out to see some birds too.

I always get excited when the temps start to drop into single digits. Popal trees start to turn colour at the sign of the first cold night, the air smells fresher/cleaner. I start enjoy being outside without erupting into a sweat for simple yard chores, and the count down to hunting season is on. Dressing up in hoodies and long shirts, cool rides on the atv, and coming home to a warm fire and a cup of joe (or scotch depending on time of day), is never better than in this time of year. Autumn is by far my favourite season.

Yeah, I'm south of Peace River.
This will be my first year hunting, after ten years of wanting to start hunting it happened rather fast and sudden (did the hunter safety course three weeks ago) but maybe a bit late to the game this year lol.
Got my game bird licence and have been itching to get out more than just the odd walk, thinking this weekend will be a good one for a stroll along the abandoned rail line a half mile North of my place.
Even if all I can get is a few grouse this year I'll be a happy man :)
