I am taking the Hunter Education Course in the beginning of November and as usual have a bunch of questions. I have searched the MNR and Outdoor Card sites, and well... they are very poorly laid out to say the least. So anyways, here it goes...

1. Can someone with no Outdoors Card tag along (not hunt) on a hunting outing with people who do possess all the appropriate licenses?

2. Can someone with no Outdoor Card tag along (not fish) on a boat where others are fishing? I was told you can't which sounds idiotic to me.

3. Is there somewhere (website, map) I can look to find out where I can hunt and with what (bow, shotgun, rifle) in my area?

4. What is required to hunt deer after you have your outdoors card. Assume I know absolutely nothing about hunting regs etc (because i dont) lol

Thanks

You'll learn these all in your course but here's what I was told..

1. I was told they were not allowed by my course instructer but it really boggles my mind why if they obviously do not have a firearm..

not sure on #2 I don't buy fishing licenses... catch and release...

3. it says so on in the regs pertaining what you can hunt WITH in the different WMUs...

for maps head to a map store and buy one of crownland in your area. Just ask the person and they'll know (at least the map stores around here do)

4. a deer tag (you've missed the anterless too so you'll have to get a buck)

Mikey.

You still need a fishing license, even if your catching and releasing ;)

Question 1: I am pretty sure, "not 100%, just what I was told" that you can't bring along someone with you while hunting that does not have a hunting license.

Question 2: Yes you can tag along when it comes to fishing, as long as your not fishing if you don't have a license.

Question 3: Go to your local MNR, or hunting shop and pick up the 2007 hunting regulation book, it is free. And it has all the maps and what you can shoot etc and at what dates etc etc. All of that info is in that book.

Question 4: It depends, if say, your dad has his PAL and his hunting license, then all you need to get is a hunting license and you can use his firearms. You also need to get a deer tag.

If your wanting to hunt a deer with a firearm, alone. Then you need to go take the CFSC course and the Hunters Saftey course, then you will get your hunting license, "PAL takes some time" and then you should be good to go after you buy needed stickers for what you intend to hunt.

With the hunters saftey course, you will learn what is right and what is not. I suggest actually taking both courses and not challenging them, as you will get a hands on experience with firearms if you haven't had much, and it's just fun. My instructors were a hoot.

Good luck
