Hi there,

My husband and I will be writing our tests for the non restricted license at the end of the month. I just took a close look at the form for the license and it asks if "During the past five (5) years, have you threatened or attempted suicide, or have you suffered from or been diagnosed or treated by a medical practitioner for: depression; alcohol, drug or substance abuse; behavioural problems; or emotional problems?"

I'm on Citalopram (anti-depressants/anxiety) since without it I sometimes get the blues and stressed out from my job. Its a ridiculously low dose. I have never been suicidal or anything, its just that sometimes I can't sleep well when I have a brutal work load.

So my question is - should I even bother wasting money on the exam and application fees? Is anybody here on medication such as mine, but still licensed? Would it help to get a letter from my doctor explaining that I am not at risk?

I just want to target shoot with my husband and hunt grouse.

You just send in a note attached to the lience and ask a doctor to sign off and it will go through fine...

Im not on any medication but I know someone who was and it didn't stop them in fact the doctor recomending shooting for stress release..

I was on a similar medication (for anxiety) for about 6 months prior to getting my rpal and nothing came of it. I mean, I didn't say anything and nothing bad happened.
Your's being for depression might be a different story though...

Several members here have said that thier being on anti-depressants was not a problem in getting thier PAL.

My wife. Was on a low dose after loosing a baby and the AB CFO is dragging it out the best they can. Paper work sent in early feb and still no approval from them after a second trip to the doc saying she is no threat to herself or anyone else. It's getting close to time to cause a stink with them about this

That is what I figure is going to happen - it will just take a lot longer for me to get it, but I will eventually.
