I have this match posted in the competition section, but i wanted to direct this bit more towards those that are not quite at the point where they feel comfortable about entering a match, or are sitting back and trying to decide what they want to build or shoot...
In Kamloops, we have two excellent matches that are tailor-made for the new-to-competitive shooting. Our season finale is actually and F-Class-only match, and it will have many very new shooters (and wives of shooters!) participating.
In case you are not up to speed on F-Class; it is a "precision" sport that is generally shot prone, and is shot at a bull's eye type target. The closer to the middle you hit, the higher you score.
For those that would like to come out and give F-Class shooting a try, this is perfect: We have a factory/sporter class where you may shot with practically any hunting/sporter/varmint type rifle, because we use a target face where the rings are twice the size as a full-on F-Class target. Furthermore, they shoot 10-shot strings instead of 15, so your hunting rifles won't over-heat (not to mention, you won't go too broke if you are shooting with store-bought ammo)
I guarantee you will learn more about the whole sport of "precision" shooting by participating in one of these matches, than you will by spending months absorbing the banter that goes on around many forums.
Anyway, the post is HERE. We welcome brand new shooters with open arms, and you will get to see a whole variety of different equipment put to use. This is also a good time to do some side-by-side comparisons of such things as scopes, to give you a great insight into why some are preferred by others.
Above all, this is about having FUN.
I hope to see you there
