Well, was out today at the "ranch" to do some basic prep work for the rifle hunt. Got together with the bowhunters and they helped pick out a spot to place my stand (I didn't have much time to do pre-season scouting, and they were nice enough to pick a decent spot out). Their camera's have picked up a several doe, a couple decent bucks and 3 black bears. Oh, and about the stand, just bought my first one this evening! :D

My brother and a friend will be coming out for the second weekend of the deer hunt (hopefully more) as well as some offers from fellow CGN'ers to come out as well. I have 3 deer rifles picked out to take with me (I like variety), a CZ-858, SKS, and a 1943 LB Lee Enfield. As well as a .22 for grouse. The Battle buggy is fueled up and has been outfitted to carry more gear and firearms. A couple bottles of whiskey and a case of beer (which will last me prolly till the middle of December while I bow hunt.) All my gear is just about packed up sitting in the living room, and just have to go shopping for some food.

Any one else in Ontario getting anxious?

This is the "Battle Buggy" btw.

I'm super excited as well... I have a few last minutes things to prepare today before heading up to the camp tomorrow...

And I love your "battle buggy"... I have the exact same cart, but mine is named "Norval" (long story). Doesn't sound nearly as cool Battle Buggy though... lol

Well I spent the day getting my stand into position (the only day the bowhunter's were not in). Found a good spot, I even saw a white tail bouncing away when I drove to the area. Found a large Pine tree that needed a trimming. Only had a SOG Fasthawk (tomahawk) and a small handsaw but I got the job done. Felt like a kid again climbing the tree to cut away branches. I sit @ 21' up the tree. With the extra branches I kind of made a blind to hid the ladder a bit better, and a feed stand to encourage the deer in for broad side shots. Just gotta go back drop some corn & apples and arrive on Thursday night. I can't wait.
