Getting started to reload 12G

Given the skyrocketing price of ammo I am considering reloading slugs and buckshot. My preferred varmint load (3" #4) has gone from 6.99\5 to 10.99\5 in the last year. How much would it cost to get set up making slugs? Assuming the lead and hulls were freeish I would need...

I think you will also need a separate roll crimp tool for the slugs. Also a reloading book.

I am also contemplating doing this too. Plinking would be more fun with slugs and buckshot than just 7.5 bird shot.

You don't need a dedicated slug mold or a roll crimper to start with, you can just stick a .690 round ball in a 7/8ths oz shot cup, but before you start shooting slugs, you better figure out if you have a choke on the barrel, or you're going to get a big surprise.
