Good day all, I just have some questions about getting started in IPSC production as far as my handgun goes. Just today finally picked up a 9mm Beretta 92a1 used from Williams arms in Port Perry as well as belt and holsters and all that good stuff, now before people start bashing me for grabbing a beretta, know that I've looked for a long time bouncing between Sig 226, CZ SP01 shadow and a beretta, it just felt better in my hands. Anyway, its a little tired, Williams arms has ordered me a replacement guide rod, free of charge, but I would much prefer all steel components, like the kits they sell. Because beretta sells all steel change over kits, is that acceptable OEM replacement components, or illegal mods as far as the rule go?
Love to hear from some experienced IPSC ' ers.

To be honest I don't think any range officer will notice your aftermarket guide rod. At least, not for a level 2 match.

But honesty is the best policy, and if you risk it and get caught, welcome to open class, as well as being known as the guy who tried to sneak something shady past the RO's. Just not worth it.

The game is most fun when you follow the rules like everyone else and beat them fair and square. If you don't like the stickler-ness of production, embrace it and move to standard.

I plan on playing fair and by the rules, production I feel is a good spot for me or anybody to start (if you plan on caring were you rank). Williams is replacing the guide rod for me, I just didn't know if beretta parts offered on some 92a1's and not mine would be ok to throw in the gun.
