Hey guys recently I was given an A6 from a friend of my wifes, wow what a great shooter, and I would like to pay her but i have no idea of a fair price.
Her husband (deceased) purchased it back in the late 50's early 60's for $40 and the gun is in incredible shape with only some marks on the butt plate, she also gave me two 8 round mags.

They were an awesome rifle, a cousin of mine has had one since the 60's. Their main disadvantage to precise target shooting is that they are open bolt fire and the shifting mass of the bolt when you pull the trigger can effect your aim. They also had an optional 20 round magazine and the real fun began when the action got dirty as they had a tendancy to go fully automatic.

You can check on the equipment exchange part of this forum to see how much semi auto .22s are going for.

In excellent shape, complete with all inserts and 2 mags, it is worth 350-400 dollars. I sold one a few years ago in excellent condition with one mag for 375 shipped.

I was under the impression that only one of the Gevarm models took the 20 round mag, not all of them. I also thought that only one of the Gevarm models shot from an open bolt. My A6 did not shoot from an open bolt, and I sold it to a fellow is Sask for I believe $475.00. Mine was in mint condition. FS

I believe that the A3 and the A6 are similar rifles with the only difference are the sights. The A7 fired from a closed bolt, the other Gevarm models E1, E2, A3, A6 all fired from the open bolt design. The original Gevarm 8rd mag fits all the open bolt designs and sell in the $80-$100 range for extra mags. The 20 rd mag was designed for the E1 and E2 takedown models.. I have heard that with modification, that the 20rd mag may fit other open bolt models. The A7 requires a different mag from the other Gevarm models. An excellent condition A6 with one original mag would be in the $400 range with the second mag worth another $75-$100.

The A7 used the regular 8-rd Gevarm mag. The E1 (takedown, 2-pc stock) was the only model manufactured and imported to North America to use both 8- and 20-rd mags. Their A3, A6 and A7 rifles COULD also use the 20-rd mags after some alteration of the mag well.

The A7 is the only one which fires on CLOSED bolt. The A-3 was simply a deluxe edition of the A6. Here's pic of my completely original A-3 (except for aftermarket scope) .

Still has the various front sight inserts in its storage well. Also, like many of the NA Model 3s, it did NOT have a buttplate of ANY kind. The butt was beautifully finished and smooth.

Much of the problem in identifying the various Gevarm .22 models is the fact that there are NINE various models - each with a different configuration. Majority were made ONLY for the European market, including those chambered in .22rf SHORT ONLY, those with the threaded muzzle for silencers and covered with a protective knurled nut.

Some of the later E1s shipped to North America, I'm told, were actually E2s left over from the company's unsold stock when they were shutting down.

I had an A7 and the regular 8rd Gevarm mag wouldn't stay in. Upon close examination the A7 mag had a different lip at the top (very small) that allowed it to click into place. The reg. 8rd Gevarm mag didn't have the little lip at the top... perhaps it could have been modified to work. Knowing how scarce the reg. Gevarm 8rd mag. is, I thought the chances of finding 8rd A7 mags would be extra slim... I chose to sell the A7. I have most of the other open bolt models including the E2 which has the threaded barrel cap.
