A few people have asked me now what I did to get the magazine working with the rife I have in the safe.
I'll try to layout what I did from memory, but remember, each one will need to have it mated to a specific rifle.
I take no responsibility for anyone following what I have done, each person takes their own risk in following.
Part 1, Finding the magazine.
After searching around, there was only one place I could find that offered a reproduction of the magazine, and only in 8 an rounder.
Western Gun Parts
WGP LTD

Best advice I can give is when you order, have the info ready for them, they don't seem to like to look it up for themselves.
Here is what was written on the package.

Ok, so once I got it, the first thing I did was see how it fits.
Not good, it only goes in 80% of the way and jambs up.
After staring at it for awhile, I loosened off the takedown and re-tried the magazine, clips in all the way now.
Now I see where it is binding, on the front and back of the magazine.
I refuse to modify the gun itself, any mods must be to the magazine only.
Using a armature hone stone, I gradually hone away the metal on the magazine, both front and back until I feel it slide in all the way smoothly, but with some (Slight) drag. This is done with the rifle fully assembled.
I have left it drag a little for 3 reasons.
a) The magazine holds in place a little firmer
b) It will wear in a bit anyway, so it has a little metal to seat with.
c) Keep the magazine wall as thick as possible.
Now that it slides in not to bad, the next issue was that it would hang up a bit on the release as it was being inserted.
I used a small fine round file to remove just enough metal to make it slip by without hanging up.
************* REMEMBER*************
Only remove enough to just make it happen, no further!
I noticed that the bolt would hang up on the feed lips most of the time, right at the back.
If I pulled down on the magazine, it would most of the time feed fine.
I decided that I need to bevel the back to allow the bolt to get on top of the magazine and push it down as it cycled.
Again, I didn't need to remove much with a needle file and it was passing by the back just fine, but I was not finished just yet.
When the Magazine was fresh inserted or pushed up, the bolt dragged on top of the feed lips, this would sometimes cause a misfire because the bolt would not reach the shell before it stopped.
With the hone stone, I removed just enough metal from the feed lips so the only time it would jamb/drag is when I pushed the magazine up into the rifle.
In the end, if I really pushed hard the magazine up into the rifle, I could cause it to jamb up on the feed lips.
If I just inserted the magazine, it would very slightly drag on the first shot, but push the magazine downward, to perfectly clear it for every follow up shot.
A touch of cold blue and "FIN"
Hope this helps others in the future.
