I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a question, I recently purchased a Gevarm E1 take down, not much info out there but I did watch a couple of vids on youtube how to take it a part. Also how to reverse the spring for either regular or high velocity 22. My question is on the youtube vids it never showed this part that is at the back of receiver. Can anyone help me out as to what is the purpose of this and name of it.

Thanks

Ok great thanks for the info. I can see that when the metal tube is inserted in the recoil spring guide as shown left in the pic below. Wonder how it does that when you reverse the spring below for high velocity ammo.

The metal sleeve stays in the spring at all times. For high velocity the tube is inserted into the back of the bolt. For low velocity the spring is just turned opposite and the tube inside the spring faces the back of the receiver. You’re just basically swapping it end for end. It remains in the spring as you see it in that picture at all times.

Thanks for the help, rifle is in great shape, the wood is beautiful and not a single mark on it, bolt is shiny, sad this little gun looks like it has been in a safe most ot it's life.

I have two of them and both are in mint shape and yes it looks like the same thing happened to them as well, basically just safe queens before I bought them.

Open bolt semiautomatic designs were prohibited in the US by ATF in the early 1980s, although existing guns in the country were grandfathered. The ATF didn't like the fact these could be easily converted to full auto. Cool little 22 rifle.

I just bought one yesterday at a gun show, and I found slim pickings when it came to info on this .22. The seller had no idea what it was because I didn’t know it was a take down until I got it home, made the 250 that I paid seem like a good deal since a 10/22 is 550. Mine has a few dings and is chipping a little around the ejection port, and came with a crappy scope, but it at least came with a mag because they are apparently very expensive. I really look forward to learning more about this rifle, seems like a really nice gun

Took it out to the range, shoots very nice and very easy to clean, practically no parts lol.

Hello,

I picked one up at an estate sale and I don't have that little part at the end of the spring.

I haven't fired it yet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Rocco

You can try Western Gun Parts in Edmonton, they may have something. I am not sure what it is called but there is a reference to it in one of the old ads as the "rimmed end mass".

About 16 yrs ago, or ? A bunch where found in a warehouse in France and brought into Canada.
I had 6 of them, should have bought more, They where new with the long mag, but the original boxes where toast.
So could be that you may have one of them if it looks new.

I would suggest being very careful where the added weight for the bolt is located. I broke mine in half by using it with the adjustment weight at the back of the action rather than in front of the recoil spring. The action is a zinc alloy rather than steel, so the entire thing broke in half. On the other hand, if all you are planning on shooting is CCI Quiets, put the adjuster at the back. Interestingly enough, the entire action, and trigger section broke in half in my hands when shooting. I was most disappointed, since I've had the rifle since the late 1960's.
I was using CCI minimags at the time, by the way.
