i have several gevarms , the take down version has a magazine release infront of the magazine , their is a lever similar to a magazine release,spring loaded behind the magazine as well , anyone know what purpose this serves ? maybe im having a brain fart but after 40 years of shooting hundreds of rifles i have never seen this before

It's for stripping the action. Remove the barrel, push the button forward, and the bolt jumps forward 1/4" or so, letting you pull the operating knob out. Push the lever one more time and the bolt comes out.
