Gevelot scope

Scored a 3-9x38 scope, "Made in Japan for Gevelot of Canada, Saskatoon, Sask. Canada"

Anybody have one or any info on the scope?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Edit: I'll try to remember to post some pics. Showed the scope to people at the Canora gun show. Only one fellow claimed he saw another one like it.

Some pics. The old scope is still clear and has fine crosshairs. Good old retro scope. Not much eye relief, so I don't know if I want to put it on my NAACO 30-06. That thing packs a good punch. I'll maybe put it on a .22.

No No! The scope came home with me. I hope next year to have another display table or two at the Regina show. It might find a spot there. As most of the older gunners know, a person runs across the darndest things, and this scope is one of them.

I've seen Gevelot scopes before; but being in Saskatoon stacks the odds. Mostly it's old ammo (including 9mm shotshells) and open bolt 22 autos. When the plant shut down guys scooped barrels of powder, and occasionally a little still surfaces.

Branding has always been common in optics. order enough of them and you could get kjohn stamped on them.

I've still got your little Gevelot branded 3/4 inch tube 22 scope that you sold to me with the E-1 kjohn.
That and a full box of Gevelot 22 LR ammo.
They all look good beside the A-3 and A-6.
If I had to guess I'd say Tasco built and re-branded after they landed in Canada.
Kind of like the CIL 22 rifles that were 100% Anschutz but far less money.
