Would like to know what my options would be for a .44 Ruger Carbine. Currently has flip up style, and would like something more user friendly, for quick and easy target aquisition. Would the front blade have to be replaced as well?

Thanks for your help,

I changed mine (Marlin 336XLR) to an XS ghost ring, the front sight came in the kit. It stands to reason that the front blade will need to be changed unless by some fluke it is the same height.

On a ruger '96, and most of my Winchesters, the front sight did not have to be changed when we installed a Williams receiver sight.
Depends on the firearm.
The sight manufacturers aim for you not having to replace it, but if the receiver is too high, they can't do that, and you have to get a taller front sight.

Ruger maked a little metal plate that goes right on your existing folding sight that is an apreture instead of a U notch. They are as flimsy as the original sights and nowhere near a Lyman, Williams or Ashley for quality, but they sure are easy and cheap. It goes into the factory slot and uses the same two screws in there for your sight notch slider now. One came with one of my Rugers and I wasted no time putting in my Mini 30 where it worked great until I traded it off.
I have put Williams peeps and some Lyman, Ashley and NECG apretures on my single shot Rugers too and usually found changing the front to a nice silver bead helped. These are all quality sights, I am sure I still have a few rears around and many fronts. It seems to take a bit of playing around to get the bead heights matched to loads sometimes.
