Ghost ring sights for a Mossberg 500

Lpa + xs

I just picked up a set of LPA Ghost Ring sights at The Shooting Edge in Calgary, and my buddy just bought a set of XS ghostring sights at the same store.
I put the banded frontsight on a buddy's Mossberg 500, and he had already mounted an XS rear sight on, since the Mossberg was already drilled and tapped and the holes fit the XS Ghostring.
Then I put the XS front sight, from my buddy's set, on my Remington, since it had the ramp for the front sight. To finish it, I mounted the LPA rear sight to my 870.
The fitting of the LPA frontsight took a bit of work since the lug on the barrel that goes over the mag tube is all the way up front, so you cant just slide the band over the barrel and clamp it down.
Tacord has some ghostring sights that may be a better option, but you need a gunsmith to mount them, unless you feel comfortable doing that kind of work yourself.
I was planning to put LPA front and rear on my 870, but i ran in to my buddy in Calgary, and it made sense to swap the banded LPA for the XS frontsight, since his Mossberg has no ramp. The mix and match worked out great for us, and my 870 shoots decent groups with slugs now, and it still works great for skeets! It's a great 3Gun shotgun and truck gun

Btw,i called them few weeks ago,and guy told me that they didnt plan yet to import them from Itely.

Lpa

I don't even kknow the model of the LPA sights... They only had one set hanging on the wall when I was there a few weeks ago.

I'll try to find out what it's called.
In the meantime, if you PM me your email address, I'll send you some pics of the process and the finished product.

Update

Ok, so I bought the LPA sights at TSE around March 5th. It was the last set they had.
At the time they also had two sets of XS Ghostring sights for Winchesters with the ramp on the barrell for the front sight. As far as I know, the rear sight is the same and will fit the tapped holes on the new Mossberg 500. The front sight is just the post, so you would need a ramp.

The LPA I got was the SG3M1B banded front sight that clamps on , no gunsmithing needed.
Because of the way the Mossberg is built the LPA can't just slide on like it is supposed to, so I cut a slot in the bandso it could slide far enough in for the front to be even with the front of the barrel. Then I just sanded off te camo paint on the barrel, and rubbed it up with a file and some sandpaper, and roughed up the inside of the band on the sight, and epoxied it. A LOT of epoxy, plus the original clamping system.

On my 870 Desert Recon I have Wilson Combat / Scattergun Tech Ghost Ring sights, and on my older 870 I just mounted the LPA rear sight and the XS front post on the original front ramp.
In use I can't really tell the difference on short distance, and the only real difference is that I can put an improved cylinder choke in the Desert Recon, and it makes a noticeable difference with slugs at a hundred .

Also, check out this link for mounting of a front sight:http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=96928
I thought it was interesting how he just drilled through the barrel and then used the dremel to grind off the screws after. Naturally this wouldn't work so good in a shotgun with screw-in chokes...

And check out Tacord, they have a bunch of Ghost ring sights on their website.
