Anybody have a good utility peep that they are using on their 94. Ghost ring isn't necessary, but something designed with quick sight aquisition in mind is what i am after.

As it stands, that short little rifle only has a few inches of sight radius on my pistol, so something reciever mounted would be nice.

Reccomendations please:D

I tried xs sight systems on my trapper 30-30, you need to have the AE that is drilled and tapped. They were really good, but I was scared of breaking off the rear sight. I wish they had a little protection there. My poor rifle gets beat on a bit where I use it....anyways, now I went to a Buckhorn style rear sight. It's very durable and is easy to find the sights when you need to. If you want my xs sights, pm me, I don't think they are available in Canada anymore but I could be wrong.

If your 94 is the older style rather than the AE, I think your best bet is a gallows style sight like the Lyman or the Williams used with the small aperture removed, but you could try the tang sight from Lyman, and this would slightly increase the sight radius over a receiver sight. The receiver sight will require a higher front sight, but you might get away with the factory front sight with the tang sight.

If the right side of the receiver is cut down at the top slightly, and empties angle out to the right, it's an angle eject. Older models flip them straight up.
Introduction about 1984 by my memory.

Yep, this one is standard eject, but there are two screws right at the rear of the reciever at the top, on the left side. They look like factory mounting holes for a reciever site. Am i right on this one?

There should be two at the back, and two at the front to mount a scope. If you look at Johnny Y's top picture you can see where the screws go down thru the rear mount. That is where the xs sights attatch. My AE says model "94AE" right on the barrel, but even though yours isn't an ae, it still might be drilled and tapped.

I looked into the side mount peep sighs, but I didn't try them because the instructions indicated some drilling and tapping in the side. Those screws look like they would work fine and I'm sure on of the companies uses them for mounting. Lyman or Williams

Sorry I can be more helpful, mine is different.

The 2 small holes on the rear left of the receiver are for receiver sights either Williams or Lymann. Great sights, remove eye piece and have ghost ring. I prefer the Williams FP myself. I believe the model is FP 94/336.

I dunno if it is psycologically burned into me, but i recall my Grandpa talking about the "wiggly williams" he replaced on my Mod. 69A before he gave it to me. It now sports a Lyman and i love it.:D

might have to look for one, any suggestions on where to start?

Epps carrys Williams, Cabellas, Western gun parts etc. I have used Williams on many different rifles never a complaint.

Both the Williams and the Lyman are good quality sights, and frankly there is nothing much to choose between them. Both will be damaged of the rifle is dropped, resulting in a bent gallows arm. There is nothing wiggly about the Williams if the screws are properly tightened, and there are lock screws for both the elevation and windage adjustment. Leave loose screws on a Lyman and you'll have a wiggly Lyman. I've used both over the years, but my 94 wears a Williams FP and I chose the model with the target knobs because I shoot a wide range of loads with bullet weights up to 200 grs. I don't think as much of the low cost Williams 5D, but if you intend to sight in with a single load and never touch the sight again, it works fine. Both sights are available from Brownells, and shipping to Canada is no problem, but try P&D or Epps first, both of which are CGN contributing dealers.

I used a Williams mounted on those two side screw holes for many years. No wobble. It had a long screw on the far side that made contact with the top of the action. Locked solid and the micrometer adjustments were accurate. Get the Fool Proof. Great sight, I still have one on my Rem 660 in 350 Rem Mag. No wobble there either.

I got the a Williams FP top mounted on my AE with the factory drilled holes. You'll have to go with the original side mount version on the standard top eject 94. I have a large aperture in mine for woods shootin' not sure what the dia. it is though.
