Ghost vs Safariland

Ghost or CR. Can you even find the 012?? I don't think any dealers carry the safarilands anymore.

+1 I have owned / own both and would buy either again. I prefer the Ghost just for the easy lock release I use when a stage requires me to run at the start and it's quicker having the gun holstered. My only DQ was a similar stage where I knocked the gun out of a CR with my elbow.

I have a 012 and it works just fine, the only thing it lacks is a 'lock' mode where the gun cannot come out of the holster (which I think the Ghost has?). So for peace of mind between stages I tighten the retention tension screw all the way up - it does not lock the gun completely but it makes knocking it out harder.

I managed to get mine on sale from Safariland so for the price it's good. I am thinking of getting a Ghost though.......just for the locking feature.
My 2 cents.

Ghost or CR. I prefer the CR myself.

Have many Safarilands....they all use the same locking (ahem) mechanism, and it does NOT retain a gun. You need a "Walk-through" strap to be safe.

if you need to buy a aftermarket strap for your holster then it's not that great of a holster to begin with IMO. Used the CR now run a ghost, prefer it over the CR. better lock system and more compact design. plus it says "for expert shooters only" on it, so it strokes my ego when I use it.

Well, if I knew I would be stroked by my holster.........

That's why you smile when you're at the range!! I thought you were just happy to see me.:D

Actually, you can't go wrong with either one, and if you are a newbie to action shooting, a Kydex (Uncle Mikes or Blade-tech etc.) will work just fine. A holster will NOT increase your level of shooting in your first years. It's just cooler at the range.

Which is better, Ford or Chevy? Glock / CZ?

It all comes down to personal preference. Me, I still use a Safariland holster, even though I've had lots of opportunity to upgrade to a CR Speed / Speedsec / Arredondo, what have you.

Yes, it does require that I keep a gun cover with safety strap on the gun, but it also keeps off the rain and is a mental reminder not to yank the gun out of the holster on walk throughs (which I've seen people do).

In the end, the holster is not going to make THAT much of a difference to your shooting. Get comfortable with what you got.

I would use Bladetech with confidence. I am now using a Ghost. I have also used Speedsec with my HK and STI. I would have kept using Speedsec had one been available for the tanfoglio at the time I needed it. I started using Ghost and got used to it. I really like it now,..and Josko's service for the Ghost is excellent.

I am actually going with all bladetech holster for all my guns. I don't notice any significant difference between the DOH and Ghost. The Ghost does look and feel cooler !!!
