I have the movie and also have a "First Edition" copy of the book. I do not believe they took any great liberties with the facts. I do believe the characters were played with but the stories match. They used Martini Henrys and I think the Michael Douglas firearm was a 577 Express double. They also used a 577 "Howda" double pistol I believe. Did I not also see a Long Lee?

Geeeez !!! just looked those two kitties up on the web. They are creditted for killing 140 workers !!!

They didn't mention that in the movie either !!!!

No it is not, at least if they kept to the origional timeline. The actual lions where shot in 1899,

couldn't have been a 470 then
