We all are aware the Mericans can't ship USGI parts here but where do we stand on bringing them back? Say a buddy spends time in Vegas and I have a bolt shipped to him. He brings it back is that legal. I don't speak lawyer although I know what a plaintiff is.

as per ITAR gun parts cannot be exported out of the US without the proper paperwork.
Don't risk your friend's freedom.

from what I understand and I could be wrong...... a non-resident of the US can't even have gun parts in their possession in the US .... unless things have changed very recently or I am misinformed/misunderstanding.

I'll edit to add that in my experience, unless it's coming in an already built rifle from the states , true usgi m14 parts like bolts and barrels are not exportable. This is why dealers like armtac that have had usgi parts kits in the past, were not able to offer a "usgi bolt and barrel" in the kits.
non usgi bolts for the "M1A", like fulton and LRB ect are able to be imported only if the manufacturer is licenced to export the part..... at least that is my understanding. certain parts require end user licence, like some parts from brownells, Krieger barrels ect ect

having your friend buy a bolt and find a way to get it across the border to you would fall under the "better not do" or "don't ask don't tell" category hehehe

By the way, screw Ictar, Ishtar or whoever they are.

ITAR is the acronym for International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
It was enacted in 76 and the 'mericans offered us exemption but the government of the time declined.
The head of said government was the father of the current clueless prime-wannabe.

You can't ship military bolts and barrels to the us either. That is why their parts kits have new bolts and barrels
when they sell them

ALL bolts are on the U.S. State Department's restricted for export list. That means no exporting, by any means, without the permit.
Add the W's and read this.
.pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_laws/itar.html

Let's be specific here. Not ALL gun parts are prohibited or require a special permit, only certain listed ones, no bolts, barrels or actions to start. Us poor Garand builder would be out of luck otherwise. ;) Numrich lists complete shotgun trigger groups, but apparently not rifle.
