If you're not reloading and are familiar with fire forming cases, pass on it. Strictly a reloading and case forming cartridge. It's the same idea as the Ackley Improved cases, but with a shorter neck. Dies will be very much custom ordered. Unless they come with the rifle.
 
unless coming with dies i would pay less than a standard calibre. i got a screaming deal on my 8mm gibbs because it came with the dies. if you have to order new dies there about $200 and a long wait. not too hard to fireform brass but data for the gibbs is scarce.
 
Pretty cool cartridge, I have 3 of them 8mm, .30 and .270. I haven't shot the .270 yet. Load data is pretty simple.... fill them up with cci mag primers and imr 4350 then shoot! (o.k. not that simple but not far off) You can come by load data pretty easy, if you need it pm me.
 
I've used a few of Rocky Gibbs cartridges over the years. Still have a 240 and 7mm (might still have an 8mm too, have to look). Without going to the longer Hawk cases, they are about as "improved" as you can get the basic 06 case. They do require fireforming of the cases, and a little more difficult to do then a properly chambered Ackley. Generally, they will push bullets of like weight slightly faster then an equivalent Ackley/RCBS cartridge. I like them, but unless you handload, you won't be shooting it much. Greyback Wildcats stateside used to make brass for them, but I don't know if they still do. Unless the rifle comes with dies, or you really want a Gibbs cartridge, or the rifle is dirt cheap, pass. - dan
