My wife wants to buy me a gun book for my b-day and I thought this would be a good time to get a "bible" on basic gunsmithing. Nothing too in depth ( I prefer to buy guns, not bulid them), along the lines of advanced maintenance, refinishing etc..
Is anyone aware of such a book or are there a few that are imperative?

your best bet is take down and assembly manuals for your type of gun or guns Eg sporting rifles take down and assembly
There is a good book out there ...I think its called "basic gunsmithing" or something to that effect
one thing is for sure . once you get one or two books you will want more
nature of the beast,thirst for knowledge and all that
