Long story short: I keep breaking barrel bushings.

Short story long:

The 1911 was unmodified when I bought it used. I broke the first barrel bushing shooting regular American eagle 230 grn factory ammo.

When taking it apart I also noticed my sear was broken. So I chalked it up to MIM crappy parts and I purchased a EWG barrel bushing (commander length), mainspring houseing and a Nowlin drop in trigger kit.

At the range again I shoot it using 230 GRN AE ammo and after about 50 rounds I notice my barrel bushing is pushed out and pertruding. My new SS barrel bushing broke again!

What can I do. I don't want to keep throwing parts at this thing. Next thing I think I'm going to replace is the guide rod spring.

Thanks for the help!

Breaking barrel bushings may be due to the recoil spring being too long(I would guess the previous owner had an aftermarket spring in) and at full recoil the spring is fully compressed so puts a lot of pressure of the bushing. To check for this, with the spring out the gun,and the slide fully to the rear,so it makes contact with the frame, note how far back the slide is.Repeat this with the recoil spring in place. If the slide doesnt come back fully, you have recoil spring binding.Trim the spring a coil or two until this no longer occurs. This has nothing to do with too light a recoil spring.
