From what I’ve seen it appears to me that the girsan mc28 sa is a copy of the s&w m&p9 so I’m wondering if anyone has tried putting the girsan slide on the m&p frame? I’ve got a m&p40 that I want a 9mm slide for and girsan parts are way cheaper

I also have a MC28SA. If I can swapmparts for it, with M&P, that would be dope AF.

All you need to do is drop in a 9mm {conversion} barrel. Unless it's just that you really want 2 separate complete slides, for the 1 frame.

I happen to have to have access to a Girsan MC28SA, an M&P9, and and M&P 2.0 in .40.

I just tried to put the MC28SA slide onto both of the M&P frames, and I can't get the Girsan slide to retract fully. The slide stops moving about 2cm short of where the slide stop would be able to rise, and catch it. This happens both with and without the Girsan's barrel installed in the slide.

I think there is a significant difference in the internal slide geometry between the S&W and Girsan, but I haven't identified exactly where it is yet.

Edit: The trigger bar and sear are quite different in shape and location between the MC28SA and M&P frames, and the geometry in their respective slides are different enough that the Girsan slide is crashing into the M&P trigger bar in the frame, instead of clearing it and allowing the slide to cycle fully.

This Girsan MC28SA is one of the earliest ones to enter the USA near release, so Girsan could have changed slide or frame geometry in the 8+ years since, or changed slide or frame geometry in the MC28TX (which I don't have available to test).
