Hello All,

I recently bought a Girsan MC312 and took it to the range the other day. Its a great gun only issue is it has light primer strikes about 1 out of every 7 or 8 shots and I am not sure whats causing it? I am shooting Winchester 2 3/4 target rounds. I can put the round back in and it will fire the second time, I have shot about 100 rounds through it so far.

Anyone experience this or know what maybe causing the light primer strikes? Should I just send it back for warranty work or is there a easy fix for this?

I would guess a new gun would probably have the firepin/tension spring oiled and in cold wheter of canada this could be the reason why you get light primer strike. Make sure it is clean dry or use Remington dry oil.

I own a Girsan MC312 3" in wood and it is a great gun for the price. However does take some time breaking in.

I had light primer strikes with Winchester 2 3/4 target loads as well, i switched to federal and it worked great, I've never had any issues since then. So far around 500 rounds out of it. Try cleaning the gun Thoroughly.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will give it a good cleaning and try some different rounds, hopefully this will be resolve the issue.

Hey sorry to drag up a dead thread but having light primer strikes on my MC312 and was wondering if you ever found a fix? I get it with Winchester Super X #4 and BB constantly was wondering if switching ammo worked and what did you have success with?

I agree with this oil issue in the firing pin chamber. I had a similar issue once, with a new gun that I did not clean, straight to the range after the transfer. Get it cleaned! A good solvent into the firing pin chamber will do it. Remington Action Cleaner spray, or a NON-CHLORINATED brake cleaner will also suffice. Spray vigorously until the drippings comes clear. Let it dry. Wipe with cotton buds to check if there is residual gummy residue (it should be clean since it is a new gun). Then lube with a light gun oil. A dry lubricant is also a good option and will be good during cold range outings.

Safe Shooting!

I'll give that a shot but I've cleaned the firing pin chamber and lubed it all up so not sure that's the issue. Once I have some time to get out shooting I'm going to try a few types of ammo see if maybe it just hates Winchester Super X.
