Trust me, this isn’t where you want save money. You can also pay a lot of money for crappy stuff.

Put a good kit together. Keep it on you as necessary. If you’ve got kids, get some kiddo specific stuff too.

My stuff is mostly government supplied but I supplement it with my own purchases. Also, take a course or two. I took a good one put on by a big municipal FD - they had a dummy that squirts fake blood while you try and find arteries to pack - messy but so worth it.

If you don’t know what’s good, and what’s garbage, ask an ambu operator, EMT, or the hose monkeys.
