hey i was gifted a few loaded 35 whelen loads from deceased estate, i got them home an pulled enough at random to find they all had like 51.8gr of powder in them.

we worked out the projectile is a 250gr nosler partition........

so from data 52gr is min, the previous owner was an older guy an i suspect he was limiting felt recoil out of a pump 35... ??

i just zeroed my Ruger Whelen in with 250gr Factorys (also gifted) fir huntng with now, an will be using the noslers soon..

im 98% sure its Varget in the 250 loads,..... an im sure its right on min load....

What should we do here..

shoot 3 for accuracy first?

FPS is in the 2200 fps bracket i believe.... the Factory is 2400--

hunting is close range 150m max.

being not mine, i dont think il top the powder up with my Varget?? to bring it up a tad.....

im thinking if they do not shoot great, pull them all, container that varget labelled its own, an re charge with my varget in higher charge-- without trying to waste any- i think ther is 27 loaded.

i guess, lets hpe they shoot well from the get go?

I personally would never shoot someone else's reloads. Too many variables to account for to be trusting them. Especially if you think they are under the minimum requirements. I to would tear them down and reload to my own specs to be on the safe side.

Dump the powder.....you have no idea what it is. And NO don't ever top it up with some other powder.
Your gun and your eyes are not worth saving a few bucks on powder. I bought some reloaded .356 Winchester off an old time loader. Didn't even think about keeping them. Pulled all 160 rounds, dumped the powder and I'll load my own...even though all the loads were measured exactly as noted on the boxes. He had it as 4320....but what if it was 4227 ? BOOM
