Never been a fan of the .308 caliber, not sure why. Never really own one for very long. Bought a used Ruger MKII in .30-06, never shot it and had it rebarelled in .35 Whelen. Had Rem .308 Win LTR, shot a box of factory ammo and had it rebarelled as a .260 Rem. I have a CIL bolt action .30-30 Win for a project gun but it's at the back of the safe and I haven't shot a box of ammo throught it.

Saw this Winchester on Hunting BC for a good price and figured I'd give it a try. Stainless Winchester M70 in .300 WSM in the camo Dura-Touch stock. Cycles well most of the time, will just have to play with the spring a bit for 100% reliability.

My Daughter shoots one and my Son In Law recently had a custom job made up for him by Corlanes in 300 WSM. I'm now in the process of cranking up some reloads to take to him on our next trip there.

Don't discount the 130gr TTSX in a .300.

3500fps makes it lots of fun.:p

I use the 130grTTSX, 150gr TTSX and 180gr TSX in my 300WSM, all great choices.:)

The Barnes 130 gr TTSX is the only reason i own a 30 cal rifle.

Changing over to Barnes in a few calibers, one of which is my 30-06. I picked up a few different weights to try out and as my Husqvarna light weight has a 1:12 twist, I thought I'd go a little lighter and faster and tested some 130gr TTSX. On my next trip to the range to try a couple of calibers with Barnes, I was pleasantly suprised.

What I'm loading for my Son In Law, trying to replicate the loads the custom shop used, 180gr TSX and IMR 4350.

That was the Ultimate Shadow SS model, and IIRC it is around 6.5lbs? Nice rifle for everything.

I also shoot pretty much TSX and TTSX exclusively in my rifles. Will probably try the 180gr TTSX in this one.

The 300 wsm and the 168 Triple Shock are a match made in heaven.

Light enough for good velocity and heavy enough for good bullet momentum on heavy animals.

Hey Gate, mind sharing a few loads?

All loads use Winchester brass and Federal 215M primers

130 TTSX
65gr Varget
3475fps

150 TTSX
67gr H4350
3250fps

150gr Sierra FP
32.7gr H4895
2000 fps
(reduced load)

180gr Nosler Partition
69gr H4831
2990fps

180gr TSX
66.7gr H4831
3000fps

180gr TSX
70gr RL25
3025 fps

Work up, most of these are maximum +/-

That rifle was pretty much given away at the price he wanted. I nearly pulled the plug on it myself but already have a .300wsm and had some bills to pay... You should do very well with it, I'm sure!

I prefer 168 grain TTSX in my Titanium. Best compromise of velocity and weight in my opinion.

:D At that price I couldn't let it go by. Worst comes to worst I figured I could flip it and make a few hundred bucks!
