I had quit hunting for the last couple of years. The joy was gone and I had no more motivation. This year I said to myself that before I hang up the skinning knives for good I just had to try it one more time. The BP season is on and I took the family to visit some good friends who lived in a great deer zone. So I went out this weekend. Rained most of the time but we filled a doe tag and popped a couple of ruffies. No major thing but after I caught a whiff of that powder the old feeling came back.:dancingbanana:

Any one else go through this stage. How'd it turn out for you ?

Thats kinda whats been happening with me the last few years. Spent too much time hunting, kinda burned out on it. I still like to go out and hunt, but not much interested in killing anything. Find myself sleeping in more often, actually it's better, I can sleep in, still enjoy a day in the woods, don't have to shoot anything so don't have to bother with the work involved after the kill. I spend way more time at the range and I can buy a new rifle for every animal I don't kill just in the savings of the taxidermy bill. No room for more mounts anyway. If I see one big enough I might shoot it..........nah....well maybe:confused:

man i hope that doesnt happen to me i get pumped before the hunt and am always counting down from one season to the next and still have trouble sleeping the night before i leave on a hunt, and this is after many years of hunting.:D :dancingbanana:

It can happen to you

I understand how it happened to me. First life work and family become more hectic. Old hunting friends move too far away and most people you know that are around don't hunt. Combine that with more and more of your old spots being logged, posted, or shut down and finally the cost factor and you can see how it can happen. Luckily I have the motivation of two great kids who keep pestering me to take them out.

Very glad I went this weekend and the kids are already planning a supper of chicken fried deer steak with hot sauce.
