Buying a new remington 700 sendero sf ii in 300 win mag and was wondering if the hs precision stock needed to be glass bedded. Heard very good things about the sendero right out of the box but thinking it couldn't hurt it any

I followed the gunwerks videos on my 300winmag sendero, but when I put my SPS varm into the same style HS stock I did not bed the recoil lug. I really didn't notice a difference when I bedded the sendero and my load test didn't change much either. I did always check the action torque, and continue to do the same with both rifles every so often. If I take apart the SPS I do notice I have to make sure it rests against the bedding block so I could see where bedding the recoil lug would help consistency when putting them back together. In turn making your first shots mirror the ones before disassembly.

I know when I bed one I drill out the factory pillars that are pressed in and cut down the edges where action makes contact on the left and right side of the action from factory near the recoil lug. I install the pillars to a height that allows the action to be not in contact anywhere other the 12 and 6 o'clock position of each pillar. We have found this to work for us very well. May not amount to a lot but if your trying to make it more consistent every thing may help and its not an expensive process and in my mind worth the time. Happy shooting

AlwAys bed your rifle. Increasing the surface area of contact in a uniformed manner will always help evenly distribute the load and help in harmonic consistency. You may not notice these differences until after 500 yards, but there will likely be some. It's cheap and easy to do if you take your time and will make you feel warm and fuzzy when you complete it successfully so go for it. I do it just so I don't have to wonder if that's my issue...
