Father in law has a semi-auto, 303 british rifle that looks to have been fitted with a sporter stock but has to be an ex-military rifle. The only info on the gun is its made by Global Firearms Inc and its a model 555.

Anyone have any info on this rifle? Anyone know where we can find a magazine for one.

Thanks

Globeco 555 Mohawk. Conversions were done in the 60s. Some work well, some don't. Original platform was the Russian SVT-40 self loading rifle in 7.62x54r. As the nominal bore diameter of the Russian round is .311 it was technically suitable for conversion to 303 British (7.7 x 56 mm R - metric designation).

SVT 40 magazine will fit. Globe made 5 round shorties from original 10 round SVT mags (38 & 40 models - arrgh!) and marked them
"303 British" on the bottom.

Awesome info guys, I came up with absolutly nothing doing a search on the internet. Canadian gun nutz comes through again.

So if I get a SVT-40 mag will it feed the 303 british or do I have to modify the magazine.

Will they even know what I am talking about if I ask for a Globe 555 magazine? Or do I have to ask for a SVT-40 mag?

Thanks

SVT magazine works as is. Bear in mind that any SVT mag you bring into Canada will have to be blocked to 5 rounds by one of the approved means prior to import. The 5 round Globe mags pop up at gunshows from time to time. Expect to pay $75.00 or more for an SVT mag. I've seen Globe cut downs go up to that amount as well.

Globe was located in Vanier, On. The building site is now somewhere underneith the Vanier Parkway. Guys who visited there speak wistfully of having the foresight to buy up even a quarter of the stock or parts. They say it was a rats nest of junk thoughtout an old house. Wonder what happened to it all?

I understand a lot of it ended up at Numrich.
