I had a chance to check out a Globe firearm today. Lee Enfield action but polished out Military markings. 21" barrel, Maple(?) monte carlo stock, buckhorn style rear sight w/ ramp style front bead. Scope mount with a matching scope; Globe.
Nice job, not a Bubba special, obviously done in a shop somewhere. Marked Model 334 on the barrel.

Anyone know the story; I sure don't...
Any help is appreciated.

Globeco was located in Vanier,ON (east side of Ottawa). I used to buy LE parts and accessories from them back in the mid-70s. They had a mountain of stuff and used to cater to DCRA shooters. I recall getting a CNo7 bbl and receiver from them as well as a selection of gauges and parts. I recall seeing one of the SVT conversions and a full suit of medieval armour in the showroom. Last time I was in their shop was in the mid 1980s. When I returned from an overseas tour in 1990 they were gone.

I remember them as I lived in Ottawa until 2004. They were kind of a closed door operation until they closed in the mid-80's,especially after a few robberies. They converted a lot of Enfields,Mausers and SVT40's converted to fire .303 which rarely worked. I've seen some of their better No.4's that rivaled the best Parker-Hale conversions.

Yes, I remember them, down in Vanier by the post office. Kind of a funny place but I remember buying a Norwegian K98k 30-06 conversion back in the late 70s. They let me go in the back to pick my own bayonet and sling to go with the package deal they were offering at the time (I think its was about $ 189.00 for the K98k with bayo and sling). Even let me take the front sight hood off another rifle as the one I wanted was missing the hood (byf41, all matching if I recall). There were crates of rifles, bayos, slings and stuff back there.
