Glock 10/17 9mm pinned mags only hold 9 rounds and not 10, can they be fixed?

I recently ordered a few 10/17 pinned glock 9mm mags for PPC shooting because they are easier to reload vs 10 round factory mags.

It's not so much a problem for PPC because we only load 6 rounds per mag, but sometimes I would like to use those for target shooting and loading 9 instead of 10 rounds annoys me a bit because I want to shoot 10 rounds per target without reloading.

Because it's double stack, and it's 2/3 4/5....... 8/9 10/11 on each line, is it possible to have that mag fitting 10 rounds (but not 11)?

Right now they are pinned and only fit 9 rounds "and a half".

So, does anyone know if they can be pinned and work at 10 or I'll just have to keep those as my PPC 6 round mags and use the factory 10 rounds for target shooting 10 rounds?

Thanks

Glock mags can be extremely tight when new... it may be pinned properly and you just can't put enough force to put the 10th in. Use them for a while and see if the spring eases up. If indeed they are pinned incorrectly, it may be fixed but it depends on how they were pinned.

10rd mags should be pinned at 10.5 to make them easier to load. I've bought mags that were incorrectly pinned before and it was a pain in the butt afterwards.

Logic says they can be fixed. If the mag now holds 9.5 rounds, remove the pin and and install a new rivet one round lower. Logoc says that will give you 10.5 rounds, which is what you need.

OR, remove the pin, take mag apart and file 2 tenths off the bottom of the follower, where it hits the pin. Put pin back in same hole.

Just make sure that when the pin is removed you have a swat team standing by ready to take the magazine down should it decide to kill babies.

I don't want to turn this into a mag limit rant thread, even though I will agree that this whole thing is so stupid that it's a shame. But, until they fix that dumb law, I would like to have my glock mags properly pinned at 10 rounds [...].

Thanks

Going one pin lower would probably give 11.5 that's my issue, because it's double stack.

I probably would have to file the follower a bit, but you know what, I'm probably just keeping those at 9 rounds... screw that.

Are you loading them by hand or with a speedloader? st1264 may be right. They might just be very tight. I had mags once that I could only load 9 by hand but could get enough downward force to get the tenth one in with a loader. They loosened up after awhile.

i'd load em and use em for a bit....they're probably good, just very very tight. Use a mag loader and see if the 10th round won't go in. If it will, load em up and let em sit that way between range sessions a couple times and they'll ease off enough to let you load them with less effort, but will still be reliable.

might need to move the rivet then. The other possibility is that the rivet is too long and is catching spring coils as they compress. Take the baseplate off and see if the mag and follower will hold 10 rounds without the spring in place. If yes, they you might need to replace the rivet with a shorter one. I'm not familiar with glock mag followers, but it may be possible if the rivet is against the follower to relieve a bit of that area of the follower to allow it to move down enough for the last round.

Can't imagine the spring tension making things tight at 10 rounds in a 17 round magazine. It has to be an issue with the pin.
