Hey everyone, I’m looking to purchase my first restricted firearm and want some guidance on the best one to grab.

I’m no expert but have cycled through lots of products and landed on both the Glock 17/34 and the Canik TP9SFX.

What are you thoughts?

Feel free to give me your thoughts, dealers, or even discounts

Both are good guns. The Canik has a better trigger and I find the grip angle more appealing. Out of the box I think its a better gun............but the Glock has the after market accessory market covered. You will always be able to tweak and adjust the Glock to your liking.

If you look on the EE you will be able to get a good deal on both instead of buying new.

Wow interesting? I had 6 glocks over the years not to mention a lot of other striker fired pistols. Not sure if this helps, but I think glocks are well made, and they shoot well, It took me awhile to get onto them, I mean a thousand rounds to get to the point where I was hitting well, quite a adjustment. Now a sig 320 I hit well right off. Sig 320 is one of my top picks, but I like the Tp9sa, mine s the mod 2, and the trigger is nice, trigger reach really suites me, and it just works out of the holster for me. I am no expert but my pick would be the canik, then the sig 320, m and p 2.0 or beretta apx tied for 3rd, oh ya through in the fn509 for 3rd. But it is what you like that matters. And will there be parts or other after market stuff for the pistol? I never add sights or red dots or other enhancements to my pistols, I shoot them stock, but I do buy the odd recoil spring and holsters. Good luck, oh to be fair I have never shot anything in the hk line up. Glocks have lots of aftermarket out there, and are well proven. If I bought another and I probably will not, I would go for a gen 4 17 with a med backstrap, and call it a day.

I have several of both.

The Canik (pronounced Janik, BTW)

The Canik is just a better pistol in every category I can think of. I use both a 3MOA red dot and a 6 MOOA dot. The 3 is better for precision, the 6 NOA rocks when you are in a hurry.

Yes when I got the canik home and dry fired, I thought holy crap that is a nice trigger, couldn’t dry fire at store, they had it trigger locked

My brother has been running a TP9SFx at IDPA and 3 gun matches for 3 years now. The Canik is 98% of my Walther Q5 match for 65% of the price. IMHO a much nicer pistol to shoot than the Glock. Only advantage Glock has is the availability of mags, holsters, etc.

Sweet thanks! For the first, definitely looking for more feel than customization... I mean getting both one day is always an option!

Appreciate the extra info - will definitely keep the longer list in mind. I've heard the Beretta is one to have..
