I’m very out of touch with pistol values and looking on the EE, prices seem all over the map.
What is the realistic value of a Glock 17 gen 3 9mm and a M&P 40 cal? Both like new.

That's up to you. Glocks and M&Ps are as common as a spring rain and rainwater is free. Stay true to your principles, refuse to pay too much, and hold out for a free one.

Before “the crazy” a Glock 17 gen 3 or 4 was going for mid $700s. I ordered a gen 5 on May 30 and it was mid $800s.

There are no "principles" involved its a voluntary marketplace, and the market sets the price.

The price is set by the market demand, since this might be your only chance to own one before the goobermint rams through an oic freezing purchasing of them it’s potentially a “pay the asking price or loose out for good” situation.

Prophet River is currently selling brand new G17’s for $850. I bought a Gen5 from Al Flaherty’s for a shade over $900 taxes & shipping included in the past week.

As long as retailers are selling for $900 the secondary market value is less. General rule, 80% if in excellent condition, decreasing rapidly from there. People can certainly ask for more, and dummies will certainly pay more. Don’t be a dummy.
