allright took my U.S ccw course a while back should come soon

now im gonna carry my glock 17 I need a holster what do you guys recomend?

Im leaning towards small of back inside the pants as i wear a bomber jacke and they are one waist length so a hip holster may not be concealed well

also not interested in a shoulder rig

give me your thoughts on on SOB and hip holsters for CCW

I used Sparks summer special (best bang For Buck)IWB.and Galco,My personal favorite was and still is Horseshe leather. They are more $$ Hard to find and take a while if you order but anything in IWB or Hip is The best Ive seen in leather. For Synthetics (kydex)Cendex is my choice with Blade tech as my only other serious choice for serious carry. The Cheaper ones Uncle Mikes etc are fine for range use to hold your gun But not to carry a gun that your betting your or loved ones lives on.Stay away from that Fobus stuff.
regards

I carried this summer for a week with Utah CCW. SOB while sitting in your car FORGET IT! I carried a glock 19 in a Uncle Mikes IWB appendix carry and it was so comfortable I forgot it was even there. A word of advice go to the range and practise drawing and firing with the clothes you will be wearing.

A word of caution with the SOB design. Because it is behind you, you have no practical way of protecting it against someone walking up to you and snatching it from you. For the same reason, your pistol maybe exposed, sticking out of your shirt/jacket because you bent down or something, and you will never know. I am partial to shoulder holsters myself and do not carry a Glock, so I can't really help you with the hip holster. Happy New Year.

I recommend the Ken L. Null UNS holster. Ken is a master when it comes to leather, he does a lot of work for spooks, his leather requires no break in, and his work is done very fast. Regards, Richard:D

UNS holster with my G21 and yes, I can wear it under a polo shirt:

Kydex for outside the waistband, leather for inside. There are lots of leather fans and fanatics (and I am one of them). There credo is that plastic is for sissies, but it is great stuff for lightweight and durable. A little clunky at times though where leather is soft and plush. Don't go Kydex for IWB. Three things for sure:

1. If you buy from a picture you will likely buy a lot of holsters you don't want. Buy from holding one in your hand and trying it on your body. Everyones body is different, you have to test drive to get it right.

2. Don't go cheap. Money should not be a primary consideration as you will feel the pain of a cheap purchase continually.

3. Always quick check yourself when gettig out of a car or getting up to be sure your cover garment is still in place.

Will this help? Probably not, but...
Just bought a Blackhawk CQC hoster with the "serpa" retention for my G17.
It was purchased as I may get into IDPA. Dont' plan on "carrying".
Holster sits nice on the hip, gun slides in and out quite nicely, and the serpa system is great.
