I think they still use the tenifer hardening process don't they? I thought only the parkerized finish had changed slightly.

After doing some digging, I believe you are correct. It looks like Glock still uses "ferritic nitro-carburizing" (tennifer) My previous post is incorrect.

The change is to the finish. Which I still prefer the Gen3 over the Gen4.

You must have gotten a good one. I have Glocks of multiple gen's and the 4th is by far the easiest to mar.

I had a Gen 3.5. Maybe they were different. The coat on the Gen 4 is definitely thicker looking. I've had two (2) different gen 4s, both were the same.

New flat finish is sadly not as durable, apparently there are some gen3's with flat finish and gen4's with 'old' shiny black finish - those are what people are used to when they think of Glock tennifer finish. new flat/gray-ish finish is similar to finish on older gen2 models.

Earlier we clarified that tenifer is not an exterior finish, it's a hardening process.

Love my Glock 17 Gen4. I shoot mine every week and put at least 4-500 rounds a session and never had any issues to date.

When you hand fit it, Take your time and READ the instructions carfully
