Hi guys,

I am new to pistols, and after trying about 8 different models of various calibres, I am eying the Glock 17.

I shoot it best, it feels comfortable, and for a recreational shooter like myself, it seems more practical, easy to maintain, and appropriate vs. more expensive brands.

I was looking at prices, and I am curious, what is a good price for a new unit?

Is it worth looking at used?

Silverdale is having a Glock day this month, and a 17 gen 4 will be going for $699, is this good ro can I do better?

Thanks for constructive repspnses, and helping out a handgun newbie.

Cheers,
T.

I bought one at silverdale's last glock day for that price. I've seen them sell on EE used, asking price $700. to that point they're aren't allot of gen 4, 17's selling used because (and I'll attest to this) those that have them, love them and won't sell them! :D go for it and don't look back....Glock 17= 1 great pistol IMHO.

Check this out. Depending on where you live the shipping may bring it up to $699 before tax. Beware that some first production run, 4th Gen Glocks were prone to recoil spring assembly failures. Make sure to ask if the pistol you intend to buy has the newer recoil spring assembly. Glock will replace, free of charge, any faulty recoil spring, but why go through the hassle of waiting for a replacement if you can avoid it altogether. Hope this helps.

After buying about a dozen or so pistols in the past I can tell you that first off a Glock 17 any generation (almost) is a great choice! I would go the used route as I always buy my guns used if I can help it. Save the money for ammo is right! I paid $625 shipped for my Gen 4 model 22 (17 might be more because of demand). New for $800 tax in isn't bad though, basically if you buy new for that you can sell for 75-80% of that anytime. Up to you to save up to $200. Best price i've seen lately is $699 plus tax unless you can get Officer discount from Police Ordnance where you save big-very big.

Glock is the best polymer, striker fired gun out there.

very big. G17 with std sights and 3 mags is $504...

Earlier this year Target Sports had a Glock day. All Glocks had special pricing that day and the G17 Gen 4 was selling for $635.

BTW a G17 Gen 4 was offered as a door prize and I was fortunate enough to win it! :D :D :D
